Domino Magazine

Ready Set Summer Pop-Up Shop

may 2017

Independent interior design magazine, Domino, brought to life its editorial market pages through a charming pop-up experience for six weekends at Brooklyn’s shopping destination, City Point. The Gathery collaborated closely with the magazine’s edit team to develop and create an environment that showcased the magazine’s distinct style and point of view while offering customers a hand-picked selection of summer goods ranging from Lake & Skye aromatherapy oils and Brasilia Candles to Hawkins New York ceramics and Travel Game Bags. The main departure point for our design was water – be it the perfect pool, a secluded beach or a sailing experience – translated into soft curves and cool gradient tones. Geometric shapes and deconstructed nuances to summer staples enhanced the design while interior elements – such as vibrant rubber tubed chairs, swing sets and garden hoses – added an element of playfulness and wit. Kits inspired by New York’s summer destinations like the Rockaways and McCarren Park Pool reminded customers of the many options available for a stylish summer season.
