Innovator Awards

November 2021

On the first of November, WSJ. Magazine united the year’s top visionaries at MoMA for its annual Innovator Awards. The first ten editions of the tentpole event brought together some of the world’s most celebrated names and in 2021, The Gathery had the opportunity to rethink the celebration and lean into experiential components that enhanced the annual festivities.

Following a challenging and unpredictable year, WSJ. Magazine’s return to a large-scale live celebration was considerate of not only health guidelines and group sentiment, but also reflected the spirit of innovation and creativity shared with award recipients and the landmark New York museum.

Seasonality, architecture, photography, and art drove the memorable design. The Gathery closely collaborated with WSJ. Magazine to reimagine the event into a warm and inviting sensorial experience bringing a feeling of intimacy to the award ceremony. Innovators included Kim Kardashian West, Maya Lin and Kim Jones, amongst other honorees.
